Contracted by Andrews AFB Base Civil Engineering, Blair Remy was tasked to assemble a study to determine the feasibility of constructing a second floor addition and renovation of first floor spaces for the Wing Command Post for the expansion of Building 1220 at Andrews AFB, Maryland. Determining its viability was the first step toward meeting the Air Force’s stated goal of designing and constructing facilities of excellence that enhance mission effectiveness and protect the environment.
This study describes the strategy for constructing a 21,020 SF second floor addition to support the CSAF initiative to consolidate, co-locate and/or combine all installation C2 at Andrews AFB. The existing facility is a one-story, concrete block structure with brick veneer. Ancillary improvements are to include HVAC systems/improvements, utilities, landscaping, concrete pedestrian walks, paved parking lots, and anti-terrorism/force protection measures.
