Chapel

With an architectural vernacular that features a contemporary interpretation of classical elements on an otherwise traditional architectural envelope, the Chapel and Mortuary Center includes large window walls to provide visual access from the Narthex, AFMAO and Chapel to the outdoors, allowing for beautiful views and natural lighting. Historic elements, in keeping with the Dover AFB Design Guide, include stucco with cast concrete base banding as well as pitched standing seam metal roofs.

The Chapel will be composed of a one-story vaulted ceiling sanctuary separated by a main entry with foyer and Narthex. A secondary entry provides a covered drop-off area from the parking lot; then, access to the AFMAO. Hallway access to multipurpose spaces, classrooms, and administrative offices are provided from another secondary entry.
