Originally known as the Ford Center when it opened in 2002 until 2010, it goes by the name of Chesapeake Energy Arena currently. Designed by Blair & Remy for Benham and SCD, it seats 18,000+ seats and serves as the venue for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association. In addition, the facility was designed to host concerts, family and social events, conventions, ice shows, and civic events. When the arena was designed it was formatted to allow hockey to be played. During the first few years of operation, hockey was played there. Chesapeake can seat up to 16,500 people for concerts with a single end stage format.
