The vision for MacDill AFB “…is an architecture of community that displays a high quality corporate image and blends the values and character of place into the environment.” The Davis Conference Center, located on Hillsborough Bay across from Tampa, was designed to be architecturally compatible with the buildings on base and specifically acknowledge “staff circle,” its Florida-Coastal style neighbor to the south. Blair Remy provided sub-area planning, charrette concepts, and design phase architectural services for this design award winner.
The 33,000 SF conference center is a contemporary solution that houses a state-of-the-art auditorium with table seating for 150 participants and theater seating for 100 visitors. A secure multimedia room (SCIF) with A/V for 135 participants, eight flex-seating meeting rooms with plasma screens, pre-function space with kitchen/serving support, and a wing of the building devoted to work areas for distinguished visitors are just some of the elements programmed into the project. On the bay side, a large terrace with arbor allows for outdoor functions throughout the year and accommodates the Base’s Corona annual event.
