A RECIPIENT OF TWO AIA DESIGN AWARDS, ONE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND ONE FOR INTERIOR DESIGN, THIS LOW PROFILE LINEAL TWO-STORY SPECULATIVE OFFICE BUILDING IS LOCATED ON A HEAVILY WOODED, GENTLY SLOPING SITE. ENHANCING THE WOODED QUALITY OF THE SITE, THE BANDED BUILDING PROVIDES A STRONG CONTRAST WHILE REFLECTING A HARMONIOUS IMAGE. THE DROP-OFF AREA IS PAVED WITH BLACK AFRICAN SLATE WHICH EXTENDS INTO THE BUILDING’S LOBBY, EASING THE TRANSITION FROM OUTSIDE TO INSIDE.
DESIGNED AND BUILT WELL BEFORE LEED CERTIFICATION EMERGED AS A RECOGNIZED YARDSTICK FOR SUSTAINABLE DESIGN, THIS BUILDING EMBODIES MANY OF THE CURRENT ENERGY SAVING COMPONENTS THAT ARE SO CRITICALLY EXAMINED FOR LEED CERTIFICATION.
